A multivitamin is a mixture of vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients that supplement the diet. Over the past several years data is showing that our food no longer contains enough of the essential vitamins and minerals that our bodies rely on every day. Low levels of vitamins can cause problems with metabolism, digestion, sleep, mental focus etc.
Multivitamins should be taken at a minimum every day. The body is able to utilize these nutrients efficiently enough that you need to replace them every day.
- Maintain proper function of the immune system
- Maintain proper function of the gastrointestinal system
- Improve carbohydrate metabolism
- Improve muscle function and repair as well as reduce muscle spasms
- Improve memory and focus

Active Life Nutrient Capsules are a balanced vitamin/mineral/trace element supplement with over 22 essential nutritional ingredients in a convenient once daily capsule.
Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) has numerous biological functions. Foremost, it is essential for the synthesis of collagen and glycosaminoglycans which are the building materials of all connective tissues, such as skin, blood vessels, tendons, joint cartilage and bone. Vitamin C is the required coenzyme for two groups of enzymes that catalyze the crosslinking of collagen fibers-lysyl hydroxylases and prolyl hydroxylases. As such, vitamin C is essential for normal wound healing and capillary health. Vitamin C participates in the biosynthesis of carnitine, serotonin, and certain neurotransmitters including norepinephrine. Vitamin C is among the most powerful antioxidants in humans and animals. It is a water-soluble, chain-breaking antioxidant that reacts directly with superoxide, hydroxyl radicals, and singlet oxygen. Laboratory studies show that vitamin C completely protects lipids in plasma and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) against atherogenic peroxidative damage. In addition, vitamin C interacts with glutathione and alphalipoic acid, and regenerates vitamin E.
The antioxidant functions of vitamin C appear to have clinical significance in providing protection from free radical damage to the eyes, lungs, blood and the immune system. Vitamin C is absorbed in the small intestine by a sodium-dependent transport process that is intake dependent. At normal dietary intakes of 60 to 100 mg. up to 80 or 90% of the vitamin C is absorbed. At higher intakes, absorption becomes less efficient. Absorption efficiency and vitamin C utilization may be greatly enhanced during conditions of physiological stress such as trauma or infection. Maximal absorption is attained by the ingestion of several doses spaced throughout the day rather than in one, larger dose.
Coenzyme Q10 should be considered an essential nutrient, as it is well established that Coenzyme Q10 is essential for the health of every cell in the human body.
Coenzyme Q10 is an important rate limiting cofactor in the mitochondrial electron transport chain, the biochemical pathway in cellular respiration from which adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the form of energy used by the body, is derived. Since cellular activities are dependent upon energy, coenzyme Q10 is crucial for the efficient functioning of nearly every cell. In addition to its well-established function as a component of the mitochondrial electron transport chain, coenzyme Q10 has in recent years acquired increasing attention regarding its antioxidant properties. Coenzyme Q10 occurs in all cellular membranes as well as in blood serum and in serum lipoproteins. As a lipid-soluble antioxidant, coenzyme Q10 efficiently protects membrane phospholipids and serum low-density lipoproteins from lipid peroxidation. Recent data indicate it also protects mitochondrial membrane proteins and DNA from free radical-induced oxidative damage.
Magnesium Glycinate 500 mg capsules feature the most rapidly absorbed salt of magnesium, in an easy-to-use high-dose capsule formulation. Capsules can be swallowed, or the capsules can be opened and the contents dissolved in water for administration.
Magnesium plays an essential role in a wide range of fundamental cellular functions. More than 300 enzyme pathways require magnesium as a cofactor. When complexed with adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the main carrier of metabolic energy in the body, magnesium is essential for several essential biological processes. Clinically, magnesium can be recommended as a laxative, for various cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, fatigue, fibromyalgia, migraine, osteoporosis, restless leg syndrome, insomnia, and for increased stamina in athletes. It is estimated that a significant portion of the American population is deficient in magnesium. Low levels of magnesium can be caused by gastrointestinal or renal loss due to incomplete reabsorption. Other causes of magnesium loss can be from excessive intake of alcohol, sugar, fiber, caffeine and laxatives. Many medications create a depletion of magnesium, including: oral contraceptives, estrogens, loop diuretics, thiazide diuretics, digoxin, tetracycline and several other antibiotics. In fact, many of the common adverse effects seen with these medications correspond with the symptoms of magnesium depletion. These include: muscle cramps, weakness, insomnia, anxiety, confusion and depression. The recommended daily allowances for magnesium are 410-420 mg/day for men and 310-360 mg/day for women.
Support optimal wellness with a highly absorbable form of zinc. Zinc supports general wellness, promotes healthy connective tissue, and helps maintain healthy eye and reproductive health.*
If there was a super mineral, then zinc would be a contender. Zinc is an essential micronutrient that is crucial to more than 200 enzymatic reactions and plays a key role in growth, immune function, testosterone metabolism, and numerous other functions in your body.*
Clinical studies demonstrate zinc supplementation can increase general wellness, and that it has a beneficial impact on connective tissue, as well as reproductive and eye health.*
If the body has trouble absorbing a nutrient, then it can't obtain the nutrient’s benefits. Thorne offers two highly absorbable forms of zinc: Zinc Picolinate and Zinc Bisglycinate. Zinc Picolinate is zinc that is bound to the organic acid picolinic acid, which is naturally made in the body from the amino acid L-Tryptophan. Zinc Bisglycinate is zinc that is bound to two molecules of the amino acid glycine – creating a true amino acid chelate.
Benefits of Thorne’s Zinc supplement suite:

Probiotic blend to support healthy gut associated lymphoid tissue to promote healthy barrier integrity, cell health, and immune function in the G.I. tract.‡
Probiotic G.I. provides 10 billion CFU per capsule of the beneficial bacteria Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacillus salivarius, Lactobacillus casei, Bifidobacterium bifidum, Bifidobacterium lactis and Streptococcus thermophilus. Beneficial microflora are crucial for proper gut-associated lymphoid tissue (GALT) function and development.1 The GALT helps protect intestinal mucosa from allergens and toxins and is a major component of the body’s immune system.2 It is estimated that more than 70% of the body’s B lymphocytes are found in the GALT. Probiotics are believed to support healthy GALT composition, and in turn, support barrier function, G.I. epithelial cell health and T cell function within the G.I. tract.3 Some probiotic strains may also modulate local production of cytokines and other immune mediators in the G.I. epithelium.4 Research suggests that Lactobacillus salivarius (Ls-33), Bifidobacterium lactis (Bl-04) and Streptococcus thermophilus St-21 help to maintain healthy immune mediator balance.
Microbial-based enzymes help digest a full range of foods, including protein, fats, carbs, sugar, and fiber
In today’s world, where we chew quickly and eat fast, many find the need for digestive support. Inadequate digestive enzymes—amylase, lactase, lipase, cellulase, and neutral protease—can have an impact on digestive function, leading to occasional bloating, flatulence, or gastrointestinal discomfort. These digestive enzymes help the body digest high-fat or high-starch meals. Each enzyme in Digestive Enzymes has a role to play that ultimately can help the body better absorb nutrients from food and supplements.† This product can also help alleviate bloating, fullness, or discomfort associated with occasional indigestion and gas.† These microbial-derived digestive enzymes (provided in a vegetarian capsule) are more pH-stable, working over a broader pH range in the intestinal tract than their animal-derived counterparts.
